An Arlington man was killed Wednesday night when his Honda Element rear-ended a Kia Soul that had slowed down while approaching a work zone on Interstate 35W, a Burleson city spokeswoman said.

James Murle Noel Jr.’s car struck a center cable barrier near Farm Road 917 and rolled several times, spokeswoman Sally Ellertson said in an email Thursay. He was ejected from the car.

Noel, 58, was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m. at Texas Health Huguley hospital. The cause of death was blunt force injuries from the collision, rollover and ejection, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported Thursday.

Noel was northbound about 7:40 p.m. when he came up behind the Kia, driven by a 20-year-old Fort Worth woman. A work convoy was in the area, and traffic was slowing down, Ellertson wrote.

Ellertson said no injuries were reported for the woman.

Burleson police shut down northbound lanes of I35W and one southbound lane for six hours to investigate.
