A robbery suspect shot to death by a Hurst man has been identified as Djuane Mitchell, 20, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Hurst police said Mitchell was suspected of involvement in the armed robbery of a convenience store Thursday night, along with an unidentified 22-year-old man.
The robbery was reported at 8:15 p.m. at the Quick Food Stop in the 200 block of Norwood Drive, police said. The men were later seen parked on a dead-end street a block away, where a Hurst homeowner questioned their activity, Assistant Police Chief Richard Winstanley said.
The unidentified homeowner, 39, was shot at and injured before he fired back and killed Mitchell, police said. The driver of the vehicle fled to an apartment complex in 3000 block of Sycamore Circle West in Euless and sought help, Winstanley said.
