Editor’s note: This report has been corrected to note that the business was damaged but not destroyed by the blaze.

An explosive early morning blaze at an east-side lumberyard damaged the business, halted train service on nearby tracks and led emergency officials to close part of East Lancaster Avenue as firefighters worked.

No injuries were reported in the blaze at Barney Robinson Hardwoods and Lumber Co.

Firefighters worked for hours to control the blaze. Investigators remained on the scene in the 2500 block of East Lancaster Avenue, a few miles east of downtown, to try to determine the cause, according to a news release from the Fort Worth Fire Department.

Firefighters responded at about 5:30 a.m. and found heavy fire from a building. Multiple explosions were heard, fire officials said.

The flames, and later lots of smoke, were visible miles away.
