A homeowner shot a burglary suspect in north Fort Worth early Monday morning, leaving the man with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at 4316 Decatur Ave. The homeowner told police he confronted a man trying to break into his vehicle.
After the man was shot, he fled on foot with two other suspects. Several minutes later, officers found the three suspects at a QuikTrip gas station at 2501 N.E. 28th Street, near Interstate 35W, said officer Tamara Pena, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman.
The man with the gunshot wound was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said.
The other two suspects were taken into custody and were still being questioned by detectives Monday afternoon, Pena said.
The homeowner was taken to the North Division headquarters to give a statement and released. He is not facing charges, Pena said.
