A worker at the MillerCoors brewery in south Fort Worth was seriously burned Monday evening when he fell into a mass of hot grain, officials said.

The man, whose name was unavailable late Monday, was taken by CareFlite helicopter from the plant on the South Freeway to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, officials said.

Firefighters and MedStar crews were summoned about 8:30 p.m., officials for both agencies said.

“I’m not sure what was containing the grain, but the man fell into it,” said Battalion Chief Richard Harrison, a fire department spokesman.

Plant personnel rescued the man, Harrison said.

A CareFlite dispatcher said its crew launched with the patient at 8:54 p.m.

The man appeared to have second-degree burns to his legs, Harrison said.

But, he said. “That’s a field evaluation. Obviously Parkland will give a more definitive evaluation of what his injuries are.”

Officials for the brewery could not be reached to comment late Monday.
