Suspected robbers kill one, wound another in west Fort Worth

A man was fatally shot and another resident was wounded early Thursday in what police say was a robbery at an apartment complex.

Detectives say they believe that three men were the involved in the shooting that occurred in the 9000 block of Brian Way Circle.

Officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Eleaquin Cardona, 23, a resident of the complex. He was pronounced dead at 1:22 a.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital.

A 21-year-old man whom police did not identify also was wounded and treated at the scene; he declined to be taken to a hospital.

The shooting was reported to police about 12:30 a.m. at the complex. Police arrived to find Cardona and the other man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Detectives have not determined how many shots were fired or what type of weapon or weapons were used in the holdup, police Lt. R.L. Krouse in an email early Thursday.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning.
