Homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found inside a burning car early Wednesday in southeast Fort Worth.
Emergency crews were dispatched about 2:20 a.m. on a report of a vehicle on fire.
Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said the still-burning vehicle was found behind a closed business in the 3600 block of East Berry Street.
Because of the body’s condition, investigators could not be certain of the deceased person’s gender and were awaiting confirmation from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, Loughman said.

The cause of death remains unknown.
“At this time we cannot say for sure it is a murder, but it doesn’t look good,” Loughman said.
