The body of a baby was found earlier this month buried in a flowerpot at a Carrollton cemetery, Carrollton police said Wednesday.

Detectives asked on Wednesday for help in the death investigation of the infant, which was full-term.

An employee at Perry Cemetery, 1805 N. Perry Road, in Carrollton, discovered the baby girl on March 11 after emptying a flowerpot that was out of place.

The baby’s body had been buried in the soil.

Officials at the medical examiner’s officer determined the infant weighed 6 pounds with the umbilical cord still attached.

“Her race could not definitively be determined,” said Carrollton police spokeswoman Jolene DeVito in a Wednesday news release. “We are awaiting further test results to determine whether she was born alive.”

Officials told police the flowerpot was placed in the cemetery between Feb. 27 and March 2.

Anyone with information should contact Carrollton Detective Jennifer Cackler at 972-466-3324 or email her at Jennifer.Cackler@CityofCarrollton.com.

The baby's body was taken to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
