Woman shot at north Fort Worth hotel is identified

A 21-year-old woman fatally shot Friday morning at a north Fort Worth hotel has been identified.

Police were dispatched shortly after 5 a.m. Friday to the Value Place extended-stay hotel at 3501 NE Loop 820 Service Road in Fossil Creek.

Daniel Segura, a police spokesman, said the woman, who had been staying in one of the rooms, was shot by a male acquaintance, who then fled the scene.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s website identified the woman as Rachael Kramer and listed her cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

According to call details, a witness told dispatchers that he had gone outside to smoke and returned to find the woman dead.

The woman, who was actually in critical condition, was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was pronounced dead at about 7:15 a.m., said homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman.

Police later found the suspected shooter in Watauga. He was taken to a hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was in extremely critical condition Friday, Loughman said.

Homicide detectives continued to investigate.
