25-year-old left car after freeway accident, was struck and killed, police say

A Fort Worth man was struck and killed by a vehicle after he was involved in an accident and left his car, police said.

The incident happened in the 13000 block of Interstate 35W shortly after 8:30 p.m.

The victim was identified as Taylor Gerth, 25, by the Tarrant County medical examiner.

He was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

Gerth had gotten into an accident on the freeway, got out of his car and tried to cross the freeway, police Capt. J.K. Driver said Saturday morning. He was struck in the middle lane.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Gerth remained on the scene, Officer Jimmy Pollozani said. He said it doesn’t appear the driver will face charges.

Two unidentified victims have died after a semi truck got into a wreck with a Trinity Railway Express train Saturday afternoon, authorities said. Two other people had life-threatening injuries, according MedStar.

A pair of eyewitnesses to a fatality accident in the heart of the Stockyards on Thursday said police were not in hot pursuit before the crash.
