A father of an infant who died admitted striking the baby with his fist, Denton police said Monday.
Emilio Morales, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with injury to a child, which is a first-degree felony.
The infant was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office as Max Morales of Denton. Max, born May 3, was less than 2 months old, according to the medical examiner's office.
Paramedics arrived about 7 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 2900 block of Desert Drive, where they found Max dead, police said. Detectives observed bruises and abrasions on the child’s body.

An autopsy performed by the medical examiner’s office revealed that Max had sustained serious bodily injury consistent with an assault, police said.
Emilio Morales admitted to detectives Monday that he struck Max several times in the head with a closed fist, police said.
