A witness told officers that several robbers got in and demanded money and jewelry, according to police. The homeowner told the suspects that they did not have anything and told everyone to get out, police said.
The homeowner and the occupants of the mobile home ran to the back of the residence and the suspects opened fire, hitting the homeowner at least twice, police said.
The homeowner is expected to survive his injuries.
Police said they do not believe this was a random act and are investigating.
