Firefighters asked residents on at least three streets in north Fort Worth to evacuate their residences due to a gas line break in a one-inch residential service line.
The streets where people were asked to evacuate included the 5100 block of Los Padres Court, Los Padres Trail and San Isabel Court, according to authorities.
Firefighters were alerted to the leak shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, the call log showed. About 10 units responded to the call, according to the call log. Some streets were closed as a result of the leak, according to authorities.
People were let back into their homes about 7:30 p.m., said Kyle Clay, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman. However, Atmos Energy workers were still on the scene working to re-instate gas service, Clay said.
About 125 people were initially affected and about 50 homes evacuated, Clay said.
Atmos workers repairing the damaged line said gas vapors were seeping into the toilets and drains of homes in the area, Clay said.
