She was hit by a train and killed, and police are still trying to figure out why

Fort Worth police are investigating the death of a female teen who was hit by a train Monday night, spokesman Jimmy Pollozani said.

Mekyla Yargee, 19, an Irving resident, was struck by a train near the 2300 block of Cunningham Street shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to records from the Tarrant County medical examiner.

Pollozani said police are still trying to determine why Yargee was on the tracks.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday Dallas Police responded to the call on the southbound lanes of S. M. Wright Freeway.
