Get ready for five nights of traffic headaches near downtown Fort Worth.

Starting Monday night, all northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35W at Northeast 28th Street will be closed as crews work on the highway for most of the week.

The highway will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Both directions of N.E. 28th — a main east-west route to the Stockyards — also will be closed during those times.

The work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project. The project includes the reconstruction of main lanes and the addition of Texpress toll lanes.

Both roads also will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday-Friday. Crews will close down the highway Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. until 10 a.m.

Northbound and southbound traffic will be redirected to the frontage roads.

Closures are subject to weather conditions, and construction may be postponed if necessary.

Drivers are encouraged to visit www.northtarrantexpress.com for information about upcoming closures.
