The driver of a silver Hyundai Elantra knocked down power lines in the 1700 block of South University Drive on Tuesday morning, leaving the power lines sparking and prompting police to close off most of the street.
Fort Worth police sent 21 units to the scene in front of the Hawthorn Suites hotel. The road was still not clear by 1 p.m., when police said the work would take several more hours.
Police say the motorist hit the lines just after 4 a.m., knocking out power and causing lane closures.
"One of the subjects was transported to JPS for treatment," said officer Jimmy Pollozani, a police spokesman. It was not immediately clear if that person was the driver.
Officers were still working the scene as of 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m. Pollozani said it would be several hours for it to be cleared.
