Motorist killed on Fort Worth highway

A Benbrook man died at the scene of a traffic accident early Wednesday morning on Benbrook Highway, police said.

David Anderson, 44, was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. A ruling on his death is pending.

Patrol officers responded to the initial report of a major accident shortly before 1 a.m. at 4800 Benbrook Highway.

For an undetermined reason, Anderson’s vehicle veered off the highway and struck a tree, police said. Police said there was no evidence of braking, indicating the possibility the motorist may have had a medical issue before he hit the tree.

The wreck remains under investigation.
