Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man and another victim who was also shot but survived.
Police were called to the 4600 block of Shackleford Street shortly after midnight Tuesday, where they found Alfredo Nieto lying in the grass suffering from a gunshot wound. Another gunshot victim was located nearby, police said.
Nieto was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and pronounced dead about an hour after he was found by police, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office. Officials ruled that Nieto died from a gunshot wound to the torso, a release from the medical examiner’s office stated. The other shooting victim was released from a local hospital later Tuesday after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound, police said.
Homicide detectives are gathering clues and evidence but have not yet determined whether they are looking for one or multiple suspects, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates that Nieto was not the intended victim, according to police.
