A motorist ran a red light and crashed into a car at an intersection in far east Fort Worth on Tuesday evening, killing a Euless couple, police said Wednesday.

Police arrested Kevin Jernigan, 38, at the scene, and he faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Jernigan was in the Fort Worth Jail on Wednesday.

The two people killed in the crash have been identified as Louise Hudson, 80, and James Hudson, 79. Louise Hudson died at the scene and James Hudson died shortly afterward at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.

The wreck occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at South Pipeline Road and Euless South Main Street.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle had been involved in an earlier minor accident and had fled.
