Police are investigating a shooting that wounded a 10-year-old girl in the face on Saturday.
The girl was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a wound that is not believed to be life-threatening, police said. The wound was on one of her cheeks, police said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in the 4300 block of East Berry Street, according to the police.
An argument between two women escalated into a fight, and one woman left to retrieve a handgun from a business across the street, said officer Jimmy Pollozani, a police spokesman.

The woman with the gun returned and fired multiple shots, at least one of which struck the girl, who was walking to the vehicle of the other woman involved in the fight, Pollozani said. The girl was in surgery late Saturday, said Deputy Chief Vance Keyes.
Police have identified a person of interest. No one else was injured, police said.
