Family members said they hope the public can help police identify the assailant who beat a Fort Worth man, leaving him in a coma for more than a week.
Nbcdfw.com reported that Darren Hawkins, 48, was beaten on Oct. 23 near the intersection of University Drive and West Seventh Street after he left his high school reunion at a bar with four women
They shared a ride service with two men. After an argument in the vehicle, driver pulled over to force the two men out, the report said. After Hawkins got out and flipped down the seat, one of the strangers slammed him to the ground and brutally beat him.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department incident report, the driver approached an officer at 2 a.m. in the 3000 block of Morton Street and said a rider had been assaulted and was lying injured on the ground.

Investigators are still looking for leads, according to Fort Worth police. Family members told nbcdfw.com that Hawkins was in a coma for more than a week. They said they hope he can leave the hospital by December.
