Former Bureau of Prisons employee gets three years probation for sex abuse of inmate at Fort Worth facility.

An ex-Bureau of Prisons worker has been sentenced to three years of probation for sexual abuse of an inmate at the Federal Medical Center Carswell.

Yvonne Marrufo, 42, was given the sentence last week by U.S. District Judge Terry Means, four months after Marrufo pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse with a ward.

Marrufo had faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The court did not order a fine because Marrufo does not have the financial resources to pay a fine, according to federal court documents.

Marrufo was a cook supervisor at the Fort Worth prison. According to federal prosecutors, Marrufo engaged in sex acts with an inmate she supervised beginning in February 2015.
