Police responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a 911 call about a major accident at East Lancaster Avenue and South Riverside Drive.
An adult woman was pronounced dead at the scene, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said. Her name of the victim was not been released.
The driver was under investigation suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Police released no other information.
