A man shot by police Wednesday outside a Dallas driver’s license office has been released from the hospital and is now in police custody, WFAA reported.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was attempting to renew his license at the office off Northwest Highway and Jupiter Road around 5 p.m. when the DPS discovered he had an outstanding felony warrant.

A state trooper tried to arrest the man when he tried to get away in a white BMW in the parking lot, WFAA reported. The trooper, along with an off-duty Ferris police officer, both shot at the vehicle and struck the suspect.

A second person in the BMW was not injured in the shooting.

The suspect was taken to nearby Texas Health Presbyterian hospital, treated and later released into police custody.
