Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting of a burglary suspect near a Golden Chick restaurant in Dallas early Wednesday, police said.

Police received a call about 4:45 a.m. from a woman reporting she had broken into a Golden Chick in the 3000 block of West Northwest Highway.

When officers arrived, the woman was still inside but soon exited the business armed with a knife, said Thomas Castro, deputy chief of Dallas police.

The woman, identified as Jacquelin Arevalos, 25, was stunned with a Taser after she did not comply with officer’s commands to drop her weapon but continued to raise the knife and walk forward “in a threatening manner,” Castro said.

A Dallas police officer fired his gun and struck the suspect. She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital and her condition was not released.

No officers were injured.

Arevalos faces a charge of burglary of a business and aggravated assault on a public servant, police said.
