IKEA, known for well-designed and affordable furniture, will break ground for its newest location in Grand Prairie today, a 290,000-square-foot store expected to open in 2017.

This is the second North Texas location — the Frisco IKEA opened in 2005. It’s the fourth in Texas. The other two are in Houston and Round Rock.

More than 300 new jobs will be created at the Grand Prairie store. Anyone interested in applying should look at IKEA-USA.com beginning this fall.

Mayor Ron Jenson, along with other city leaders and IKEA company officials will gather for the groundbreaking event today at Texas 161 and Mayfield Road in Grand Prairie.
