The pedestrian hit by an Arlington police officer making a U-turn on Matlock Road Saturday night was “extremely intoxicated,” police said Monday

About 6:40 p.m., the unidentified female officer was southbound in the 2200 block of Matlock Road when she tried to make a U-turn at the intersection of 600 W. Arkansas Lane, said Tiara Ellis Richard, a police spokeswoman.

The pedestrian who was walking against the signal was hit. The officer “immediately stopped to render aid,” Richard said.

The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer will not be placed on restricted duty because the incident was not her fault, Richard said.
