A crash in north Arlington involving a trash truck, a dump truck and a tractor-trailer killed the trash truck driver Tuesday morning, police said.
The driver who died, a man whose name has not been released, was driving the trash truck south on North Collins Street about 11 a.m. when he tried to turn right “at a high rate of speed” onto Mosier Valley Road, said Steven Bartolotta, an Arlington police spokesman.
The trash truck clipped the tractor-trailer, which was eastbound on Mosier Valley, and then overturned, Bartolotta said. A dump truck going east on Mosier Valley then struck the overturned trash truck.
Emergency crews tried to rescue the man from the overturned trash truck but found him dead inside the cab, said Lt. David Tyler, a Fire Department spokesman. The driver of the dump truck was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene to prevent fuel from spilling into a storm drain, Tyler said.
