A fire raced through an apartment building early Tuesday, forcing 18 people out of their homes, but no injuries were reported, a fire official said.

The blaze was reported about 1 a.m. at the Park Row East Apartments in the 1300 block of Timberlake Drive.

“The first arriving engine reported fire on the first and second floor, as well as multiple vehicles on fire in the parking lot,” Lt. David Tyler said in a news release.

The fire damaged four apartments.

All residents escaped safely, but several were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Tyler said. No one was taken to a hospital.

Red Cross officials assisted the displaced residents.

Fire officials have not determined the cause for the blaze, but investigators believe it started on a ground-floor patio.
