A 4-year-old boy who had been fishing at Lake Arlington on Sunday died Tuesday morning, said Arlington police spokesman Lt. Christopher Cook.
The case is still under investigation, but the death appears to be accidental, he said. The child died at Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Bystanders at the lake performed CPR on the boy, who was found floating face-down in the water. The child’s identity has not been released.
Michael Hawkins, 31, said he and two others got the boy breathing on his own, but he remained nonresponsive when paramedics arrived at Bowman Springs Park in the 7000 block of Poly Webb Road.

The boy had been fishing with Hawkins’ children about a half-hour before they found him in the lake, Hawkins said.
“He was fishing with us for a little bit, then he took off,” Hawkins said. “I thought he went back with his family. About 30 minutes later we found him in the water.”
