Bicyclist killed in Arlington hit-and-run is identified

A bicyclist killed early Monday in a hit-and-run on an Arlington service road has been identified as Bruce Reinking, officials said Tuesday.

Reinking, 57, died from injuries he sustained when a vehicle hit his bicycle, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office website. Reinking’s hometown was not listed.

Police are still searching for the motorist and the vehicle.

“We still do not have a good vehicle description at this point,” Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Richard said in an email Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched to the fatal accident in the 300 block of South Watson Road, the service road of Texas 360 near Abram Street, at about 1 a.m. Monday. They found Reinking in the roadway with a red mountain bike nearby.

Investigators say they believe he was northbound on the service road and was struck from behind. Anyone with information is asked to call Arlington police at 817-459-5635.
