If you’re looking for a little European flavor for the holiday season, the Texas Christkindl Market will be in a new location.

Starting on Friday and running through Dec. 23, The Plaza at Texas Live! will host a Christmas market that is modeled after one in Rothenberg ob der Tauber, Germany.

Holiday shoppers will be able to buy Käthe Wohlfahrt decorations and designs just like those that can be found at the Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Market. Other handmade gifts will be available.

“We think Texas Live! is a perfect location for the Christkindl market to be able to expand again in the future,” said Decima Mullen, a spokeswoman for the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s important for the event to stay a holiday tradition and the community to support it, and Live! is a great space for that to happen.”

The Christkindl Market Official tree-lighting ceremony is at 6 pm. Sunday. Christkindl will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.

Texas Live! will also be having a number of holidays events throughout December.

If you’re looking for other free family fun this weekend, the Arlington Holiday Lights Parade begins at 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Arlington. Following the parade is Arlington’s official Christmas tree lighting in the new City Center Plaza between City Hall and the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

2015 is the 40th anniversary of the Interlochen Christmas lights, a holiday tradition in the north Arlington neighborhood. Police will direct traffic through the streets starting at 7 p.m. each night through Dec. 25. Star-Telegram video by Paul M
