One of the biggest games in District 4-6A’s first half of play is set for Tuesday, when 5-0 Bowie hosts 4-1 Martin at 6 p.m. Bowie is coming off a week of decisive victories, having defeated North Crowley 56-47 Friday and Lamar 57-39 last Tuesday. Martin also won both its games last week, 50-44 against Weatherford on Friday and 62-43 over Sam Houston last Tuesday. However, Bowie’s victories over Weatherford and Sam Houston this season were by much larger margins, of 13 and a whopping 65 respectively.
With North Crowley (also 4-1) starting this week tied with Martin for second place, Lamar is hanging onto fourth at 3-2. The Lady Vikings will face winless Arlington on Tuesday before getting a chance to climb in the standings when they visit North Crowley at 6 p.m. Friday. Lamar lost to Bowie last Tuesday but rebounded with an 83-17 defeat of Fort Worth Paschal last Friday.

In Class 5A competition, the Seguin girls have dominated 14-5A and enter the week at 8-0. They visit Ennis on Tuesday and host Red Oak on Friday, both games at 6:30 p.m.
In the young 4-6A season, Bowie, Lamar and Martin start this week with 2-1 records, lined up behind undefeated North Crowley in the standings. Arlington and Sam Houston are each at 1-2.
Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. starts include Sam Houston at Paschal, Arlington at Lamar and Martin at Bowie. At 8 p.m., 1-5 Seguin visits Ennis in 14-5A play.
Friday’s 6:30 p.m. starts include Bowie at Arlington, Martin hosting Paschal, Sam Houston hosting Weatherford and Lamar at North Crowley. Seguin hosts Red Oak at 8 p.m.
