Springlike temperatures will give way to another blast of winter by the end of the week.

Although highs are expected to drop into the 40s on Saturday and Sunday, forecasters say they don’t expect any frozen precipitation.

“Right now, it doesn’t look like a huge event,” said Steve Fano, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

That doesn’t mean it couldn’t hamper some travel plans, especially if North Texans are headed toward Oklahoma or the Texas Panhandle early next week. But locally, it appears that winter will stay away for the holidays.

“It looks like pretty decent weather anywhere in the vicinity on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” Fano said.

Before the holidays arrive, the DFW area will get the chance to bask in warmer weather.

This week will be much warmer, with highs in the 60s and the low 70s by Thursday, allowing last-minute shoppers to hit the stores.

Monday’s 4 p.m. temperature at DFW Airport was 65 degrees, a mere 32 degrees warmer than last Monday.

“Anything that needs to be done in preparation for the holidays, this is the week to do it,” Fano said.
