Warm-up begins in North Texas, a pleasant weekend expected

Warmer temperatures returned to North Texas today, with highs expected in the 70s, lows in the 60s and not very much rain.

There’s a 20 percent chance of rain after midnight tonight, but “the system does not look that impressive,” said Matt Bishop, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

“It looks like it will be a pleasant weekend,” Bishop said.

Weather service forecasters are calling for mostly sunny skies today, with highs near 70 degrees, lows near 61 degrees and 10 mph southerly winds with gusts up to 20 mph.

Tonight and Saturday, clouds will move in and there will be a slight chance of rain, but the high temperature will elevate to 79 degrees and the southerly winds will reach 15 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Forecasters are calling for partly cloudy skies on Saturday night with a low around 65 degrees. Sunday skies should be sunny with a high near 83 degrees.

Our next cool down is expected to come on Sunday night, with temperatures dipping into the low 50s and northeast winds from 5 to 15 mph.
