Freezing temperatures blanket North Texas

Freezing temperatures gripped North Texas Wednesday and residents should see another freeze Thursday morning.

A freeze warning was in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday and it was cold all over North Texas.

At 7 a.m. today, the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth reported temperatures at DFW Airport at 31 degrees, Bowie at 23, Denton at 24, Cleburne at 28 and Dallas Love Field at 31.

It will warm up later today as high temperatures should be in the lower 50s.

But forecasters say North Texans will see temperatures near or below freezing again Thursday morning.

“It just won’t be as cold as this morning,” said meteorologist Jennifer Dunn at the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.

After Thursday morning, it will be almost like spring in North Texas. Temperatures will climb to the 70s during the day and morning temperatures will be in the lower 60s at the end of the week.

Forecasters are calling for slight rain chances on Thursday and Friday nights.

The weekend looks like it’ll be partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 70s.

Dunn, however, noted that North Texas will get another blast of cold air early next week. Morning temperatures on Tuesday could again be freezing.

That means don’t put away the jackets and gloves.
