A woman was killed Wednesday morning in a house fire in the Dalworth Park neighborhood of Grand Prairie, officials said.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 2100 block of El Paso Street around 5:45 a.m. They found heavy smoke and flames coming through a window and were told someone might be trapped inside. Fire crews began a search and located a woman, officials said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries. The woman has not been publicly identified, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to officials.
