Medical examiner’s office releases name of man, 26, who drowned in Grand Prairie lake

A man who died at a hospital after he was pulled on Sunday from a lake in Grand Prairie was 26 years old and lived in Haltom City, authorities said.

Elmer Bautista-Perez accidentally drowned, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died early Monday at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

Bautista-Perez had been swimming in Joe Pool Lake, where the Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team found him underwater after authorities were called about 6 p.m.

Bautista-Perez was not wearing a life vest, according to the Grand Prairie Fire Department.
