Railroad Commission’s hearing on quakes to be streamed live

The Texas Railroad Commission’s hearing examining whether wastewater wells are causing earthquakes northwest of Fort Worth will be streamed live over the Internet.

Typically, the agency does not webcast its administrative hearings. But because of heightened interest in this hearing, set for Wednesday and Thursday with XTO Energy, it can be seen on the commission’s website. It begins at 9 a.m.

To view the webcast, go to www.texasadmin.com/txrail.shtml and click on the June 10 hearing.

The commission called for the hearing in April after a study by Southern Methodist University linked the rash of earthquakes in Azle and Reno from November 2013 to January 2014 to wastewater wells operated by XTO and EnerVest Operating.

The EnerVest hearing, scheduled for June 15-16, will also be webcast.
