Police in Fort Worth said a teen has been taken to a hospital after being shot in the neck on Sunday afternoon.

Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Tracy Carter confirmed the shooting that occurred a little after 2:30 p.m.

Carter said west units responded to what is being called an accidental shooting in the 5600 block of Wellesley Avenue in west Fort Worth.

He said a teen, possibly 17 or 18-years-old had been shot in the neck at the location.

Medstar spokesman Matt Zavadsky stated that the victim in the incident was a 17-year-old male. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital and was treated for minor injuries, according to Zavadsky.

No additional details have been given on the incident at this time.
