A robbery suspect who was fatally shot in Arlington on Sunday has been identified as Percy Rodgers, 18, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Rodgers, of Arlington, is accused of trying to rob two people — a father and a son — in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station when the father shot him in the head, said Lt. Chris Cook, a police spokesman.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Sunday at a store in the 3300 block of South Watson Road, a frontage road for Texas 360.

When officers arrived, they searched the area and found Rodgers in his wrecked car a couple of blocks away, at the intersection of East Mayfield Road and Carter Road. He was taken to Medical Center of Arlington, where he was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m.

The man who shot Rodgers came forward immediately and cooperated with police during an interview, Cook said. No arrests were made.

Detectives were still investigating Tuesday and will present the case to the Tarrant County district attorney’s office for review.

The shooting was captured on the gas station’s surveillance video, but police are not releasing the footage, Cook said.
