The suspect in a vehicle theft was fatally hit on Texas 360 Tuesday night as he ran from a confrontation, Arlington police said.
A witness, the son of the owner of a car that was stolen in Grand Prairie earlier Tuesday, told police that he saw his father’s car stopped at the intersection of North Watson Road and Avenue J in Arlington about 9:30 p.m., police said in a news release.
When the son tried to confront the man, he tried to speed away but crashed into another car in the intersection, the news release said.
The suspect, who had not been identified by late Wednesday, got out of the car and ran toward Texas 360. He jumped down an embankment and ran onto the freeway where he was hit by a northbound vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Northbound lanes of Texas 360 were closed at Six Flags Drive for investigation until 1:15 a.m.
