Woman sitting in traffic lane dies when several cars hit her on I-30, Arlington police say
A woman who was sitting in the far right lane of eastbound Interstate 30 near Fielder Road was killed when she was hit by multiple vehicles early Friday morning, according to Arlington police.
It’s unclear why the woman was sitting in the roadway, police said. Investigators who spoke with witnesses and reviewed other evidence determined that by the time several drivers could see the woman, they were unable to avoid hitting her.
The drivers who struck the woman stopped, called 911 and cooperated with investigators, police said. They are not facing any criminal charges.
Officers responded to the accident about 4:25 a.m. All lanes of I-30 were closed to traffic for several hours during the investigation.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the woman once next of kin have been notified.
