Police are investigating a wreck that left one man dead and three others injured late Friday.

The wreck occurred about 11:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of East Park Row Drive. A preliminary investigation showed that a pickup traveling westbound on East Park Row Drive collided with a sport-utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Another pickup involved in the wreck was also traveling eastbound on East Park Row Drive.

The driver of the pickup traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lanes, crossed over the center divider and struck the SUV head-on. The collision also damaged the second pickup that was traveling eastbound as well.

The driver of the westbound pickup, a man in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital by helicopter ambulance suffering from serious injuries. Two occupants in the eastbound pickup were taken to a local hospital by ground ambulance and were expected to survive.

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol or drugs may have played a factor in this crash. The roadway was shut down for about two hours during an investigation.
