The body of a 57-year-old Arlington man who drowned during an outing at Joe Pool Lake on Sunday has been recovered.

The body of Walter Harrison III was found about 1:15 p.m. Monday, Grand Prairie police said in a news release.

Harrison’s was the second drowning at Joe Pool Lake this year, officials said.

Grand Prairie police and fire departments were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

The 911 caller, a relative on a pontoon boat near the lake’s spillway, told lake patrol officers that Harrison was swimming off the boat when he started yelling for help. Before Harrison could be reached, he disappeared under the water’s surface, the family member told police.

Divers searched for Harrison until 9 p.m. Sunday and resumed the search at 7 a.m. Monday.
