Coaster enthusiasts from around the country descended on Arlington on Tuesday to join superheroes in the fight to save Metropolis.
The new 4D dark ride, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, will open to the public Saturday but VIPs and media got an early peek at the ride.
"Justice League is really one of the most anticipated new attractions of the year," said Robert Niles, editor of ThemeParkInsider.com who flew out from California to try out the new ride. "It's something very different for Six Flags to be doing. This is the sort of attraction, we have come to expect from Universal or Disney with animatronics, 3D and this motion-based ride technology."
The ride can accommodate between 600 to 800 riders per hour who will don 3D glasses and use laser guns to shoot at targets that pop up on several large video screens as they move through the ride.
Batman and Superman ask riders to help them defeat the Joker and Lex Luthor who are trying to take over Metropolis. The
John Chen, who is with Coaster Crew, left his home in Houston around 4 a.m. to drive up to Arlington to take a spin on the indoor ride.
"It's a very, very good ride," Chen said. "It's definitely a major step up for Six Flags."
