When Ebby Halliday Acers died in 2015 at the age of 104, her Ebby Halliday Realtors had grown to the largest independently-owned residential real estate firm in Texas and the 10th largest in the nation.

Her employees kept up that pace during the past three years, and Ebby Halliday Realtors remains synonymous with home sales in Dallas-Fort Worth. But on Monday Ebby Halliday officials disclosed that the Dallas-based company is being sold to HomeServices of America Inc., which is owned by investor Warren Buffett's conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway Inc..

The purchase will include Ebby’s three real estate brands: Dallas-based Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, Fort Worth-based Williams Trew Real Estate and the firm’s affiliated mortgage and title companies, company officials said in a news release.

"The Ebby Halliday portfolio of companies brands will continue to operate under their current brand names," the press release stated.
