TCU to begin $83M expansion along West Berry corridor this spring. Here’s what’s coming.
TCU plans to start construction on two buildings for student housing and commercial space this spring.
Located at 2900 W. Berry St. and 3024 Cockrell Ave., the new buildings will add 779 beds for students and 19,800 square feet of retail space to the campus. Both properties are currently university-owned parking lots. Total construction costs for the new buildings are an estimated $82.9 million.
Construction is slated to begin in April and be completed by August 2027. The university hired Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group to develop the projects.
Student housing availability has long been an issue at the university, where enrollment has increased by almost 29% since the fall 2014 semester. A new dining hall and two dormitories with 292 beds on the east side of the campus opened in January.
The new student housing is a first step for TCU toward its goal of transforming West Berry Street into Fort Worth’s “place to be.” Business owners are widely supportive of the effort, which is part of the university’s plans to grow enrollment and expand its campus over the next decade. As many as 25 new buildings could be added to the campus, if TCU’s vision comes to fruition.
The university is aiming to enroll 14,900 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students by 2035, as part of its strategic plan, a roadmap for TCU’s next decade. About 11,000 undergraduates were enrolled for the fall 2024 semester.
