Monday Midday Must-Reads

-Alaska Airlines wants to take over California and away from Southwest Airlines, according to this Los Angeles Times article. “The competition could be good news for California travelers because both airlines are expected to fight for passengers with low fares, convenient routes and better departure times,” the LATimes reports.

-Delta Air Lines won’t add any new international routes in Seattle until a new terminal is opened, likely in 2019. The Puget Sound Business Journal reports that Delta says Seattle-Tacoma International airport is “facilities constrained” as its difficult for passengers to move through the small customs area.

-While it’s been written about a lot, I love a good story about the airplane “boneyard” in Roswell, N.M. USA Today’s Ben Mutzabaugh took a ride with American Airlines on an MD-80 it was mothballing at the Roswell International Air Center.
