Etihad delays start of daily service for DFW-Abu Dhabi to 2016

Etihad Airways is pushing back the start of daily service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Abu Dhabi, the airline said on Thursday.

The Persian Gulf carrier had originally planned to upgrade its thrice-weekly service on the route to daily flights in April.

“Our Dallas/Fort Worth service has received an extremely positive response since its launch in December 2014 and flights will continue to operate as scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. We will advise our stakeholders as soon as the revised timeframe for a daily service is confirmed,” Etihad said in a statement.

Etihad only recently began operating the DFW-Abu Dhabi route. The first flight arrived on December 3. The carrier uses a Boeing 777-200LR on the route with eight first-class seats, 40 business-class seats and 177 economy seats.

The airline now plans to upgrade to daily service between DFW and Abu Dhabi in 2016.

Etihad competitors, Emirates Airline and Qatar Airways, both currently have daily service to the Middle East from DFW Airport.

Here is the full statement from Etihad.

“Etihad Airways has revised its 2015 schedule structure and fleet plan, resulting in some amendments to its global network. This includes new schedule timings for several North America flights and moving the previously planned additional frequencies between Abu Dhabi and Dallas/Fort Worth to next year.

“Our Dallas/Fort Worth service has received an extremely positive response since its launch in December 2014 and flights will continue to operate as scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. We will advise our stakeholders as soon as the revised timeframe for a daily service is confirmed.

“We apologize for any inconvenience these schedule adjustments may cause to our valued guests. Etihad Airways, along with our travel agency partners, will work closely and directly with guests who are affected by flight adjustments to notify them of the changes to their itineraries and re-accommodate them on other flights that meet their travel needs. The notification process begins this week.
